Most people rent a dumpster once or twice in their life. It usually happens in the middle of something big: a kitchen coming out, a parent's house that has to be emptied, a move with a closing date that will not wait.
A roll off takes one problem off the list. We set the container in your driveway, you load it when you have time, and we haul it away when you call. No trips to the transfer station with a borrowed truck. No pile on the lawn for three weeks while you wait for bulk pickup.
You do not have to be home for delivery. Move the cars, check that nothing hangs low over the spot, and tell us where you want the door to face.

The home projects we deliver for most
- Garage, basement, and attic cleanouts. Decades of storage, old furniture, paneling, boxes. A 15 yard handles most basements. A garage cleanout is usually a 10 or 15.
- Whole-house and estate cleanouts. Furniture from every room, a full basement, a garage. Plan on a 25 or 30 yard, or a 20 that we swap once.
- Kitchen and bath remodels. Cabinets, counters, drywall, tile, and flooring. One bathroom fits in a 10 yard. A kitchen wants a 15 or 20.
- Roofing. A single layer of asphalt shingles runs 250 to 400 pounds per roofing square, so weight matters more than space. Tell us the squares and the number of layers and we will match the size to the weight.
- Flooring and carpet. Carpet and pad are bulky but light. Hardwood and tile are heavy for their volume.
- Decks, sheds, and fences. A 12 by 12 deck fits in a 10 yard with room to spare.
- Yard work. Brush, branches, old shrubs, fence panels, and play sets.
- Moving and downsizing. The things that are not worth moving and are not worth selling.

Weight is the part that surprises people
Every size comes with a weight allowance, from 1 ton on the 10 yard to 3 tons on the 30 yard. Household junk rarely gets close. Plaster, tile, roofing, and wet wood get there fast.
Older houses are the usual surprise. A lot of Montgomery County homes were built between the 1940s and the 1960s, with plaster walls and mud-set tile. That debris weighs far more than modern drywall. A bathroom that fits easily in a 10 yard by volume can use most of its 1 ton allowance. For a plaster gut we often suggest going one size up for the weight, not the space. Going one size up usually costs less than ordering a second container.

Driveway, street, or HOA
A driveway is the easiest place for the container, and on private property you do not need a permit from Montgomery County. We set the container on boards when the surface calls for it. Sound concrete and asphalt normally hold up fine. Driveways that are already cracked, and gravel, dirt, or grass, can show marks.
If the container has to go on the street, the rules depend on who owns the road. County roads need a dumpster permit from the Montgomery County Department of Permitting Services, which says to allow one to two weeks. Rockville, Gaithersburg, Kensington, and the other incorporated towns issue their own permits. See our service areas for the details town by town.
Townhouse communities are their own case. The dumpster usually goes in your assigned space or a spot the HOA approves, so get their permission before you book. A 10 yard is 14 feet long and fits in most standard parking spaces.

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster for a home project?
The price depends on the size, what you are throwing away, where you live, and how long you keep it. You get one flat rate that covers delivery, pickup, the rental period, and disposal up to the weight included with your size. Do I need to be home when the dumpster is delivered?
No. Clear the spot, move the cars, and tell us where you want it. If you will not be home, leave a note or mark the spot and we will put it there.
Can I put the dumpster on my lawn?
You can, but grass and soft ground can show marks, especially when it is wet. A driveway is the better spot. If the lawn is the only option, tell us when you book.
What happens if I fill it before the project is done?
Call us and we will schedule a swap: we take the full container and leave an empty one.
Can I throw away an old refrigerator or air conditioner?
Call us first. Refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners contain refrigerant, and what is allowed depends on the city the dumpster goes to.
How long can I keep the dumpster?
Up to 10 days on every size, including the 30 yard. Each extra day is $10. We do not pick up automatically, so call on or before your last day.

Clear a spot.
You do not have to be home for delivery. Move cars out of the way and make sure nothing is hanging low over the spot, like tree limbs or wires.
Fill it.
Load at your own pace during the rental period. Keep everything below the top rail so the driver can cover and haul it.
Call for pickup.
We do not pick up automatically. Let us know on or before your last rental day and we come get it. Each extra day after that is $10.
